One of the top 4 or 5 of 1990 for sure (along with 3/29, 7/12, and 9/20). The trio jam with Jerry, Vince, and Bruce out of Foolish Heart is a must re-hear again and again (they did another excellent trio out of Let It Grow the following night, but this overall show is better). Anytime you get Eyes>Estimated, you are in for some serious jamming, and the mix here is wonderful. But then the Foolish Heart>Jam that comes after just puts it over the top. They continue the excellence with TOO>Wheel>Sugar Mag -- TOO a bit short for 90, but who's complaining after the pre-Drums? Complaining about Vince's keyboards -- yeah, yeah, similar complaints have been voiced about Brent's electric piano sound. People talk about 9/18/87 like it's this super show, and it did have a great Dew, but this one absolutely blows the doors off anything from 87 or 85, 86, or 88 for that matter. 1990 and 91 were the last great years.

This was my first show of around 45 that I attended and remains my favorite. During Promised Land Jerry was stomping his feet while looking at Bruce. I've never seen him so animated since. Picasso Moon (which I normally dont like) was hot as hell. Almost every song is top notch. Bobby was on fire the whole night.

i'm usually a not a naysayer, but come on ya'll. a good recording for sure, and a few nice moments, but vince's plunky and untimely playing coupled with the uber cheesy, no soul synth that was his contribution to the band is just shitty to listen to. I was at all these shows ans had a fine time, but knew that the end was near. listening to this only reminds me of that sad fact.
still...jerry, bruce, bobby and phil have some times here.

Here it is, folks. One of the very best Eyes of the World.
The sound of this AUD is smooth yet detailed. A+ for an Audience. Just beautiful, almost like a multitrack. Dan Healy was a master of house sound. Mine is PCM digital not compressed.
The crowd is wowed by the amazing Eyes, Garcia bringing forth new chord changes left and right with utter grace, leaving the listener slack jawed. Vince and Bruce step up nicely. But Garcia in 1990 plays with so much wisdom, good nature and yet he dishes out new sliding chords that are so sick, like it is so easy. Garcia is visualizing a brand new space in this Eyes. Garcia sees this and grabs it, like a master aware in his moment.

Definetley worth the listen despite the fact that the sound isn't great. The To Lay Me Down & Promised Land are some of the best versions I have heard. Overall though, all versions are very well played. 4 star performance, 3 star sound.

It sounds just as it was. This tape sounds like MSG. Queit crowd, great music. Jerry really gives that extra something. The Jam is incredable. These garden shows were very special. I was at all of them, I had floor for most and really enjoyed the scene. We all Deeply missed Brent, but Vince and Bruce exploring the unkown and Jerry really strechen it out there. The summer shows were hot. so was the spring. It was a great year for the dead but, a great loss as well.
as it was.
Peace

I had this tape a long time ago and lost it somewhere in my travels. The whole show is excellent. Even the first set is incredible with sleek and mean versions of minglewood, desolation row, lay me down and promised land. Hornsby is all over Garcia's chops and and garcia gladly obliges with ice-cutting notes, each well-thought out and played to perfection.
The second set is even meaner with the eyes and a great sugar mag.
I just wish the sound was just a little better.

This show and recording are solid! If nothing else get this one for the "Eyes". Tetifying to the caliber of playing throughout this show; I find it hard to believe that this was only Bruce's third gig of the tour. The band's chemistry certainly indicated otherwise. Don't miss this one.
